Liverpool have joined both the Manchester clubs in the race to sign Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg.

Soyuncu, 21 joined the Bundesliga side only last year and within just one season the Turkish International has made himself a mainstay in defence. He has already made 32 appearances for Freiburg and is widely regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in Germany right now.

Both Mourinho and Guardiola wanted to sign the player this summer but the youngster chose to stay back in Germany where his contract with Freiburg expires next summer. But now Turkish-football.com are reporting that Liverpool have also joined the race to sign the player as Jurgen Klopp is in urgent need for defensive reinforcements. Most of the German’s defenders are below par and poor defensive performance has cost him every now and then.

Thus Liverpool wants to sign a new and young defender who can stay with the club for lengthy amounts of time. And Soyuncu fits the brief perfectly.
