According to reports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has laid emphasis on the fact that his new summer signing Mohamed Salah will not be a failure at the club.

Klopp made the statement while referring to Salah’s failed stint at Chelsea FC. The Egyptian signed for Chelsea back in 2014 from FC Basel but was unable to replicate the sort of form that he had shown during his time in Switzerland. The now 25-year-old spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge during which he moved around clubs like Florentina and Roma on loan spells. Unable to find a permanent place in the Chelsea squad the Egyptian made a permanent move to AS Roma in 2016, and it was here that the forward regained his top form once again.

Liverpool once had shown interest in signing Salah under the Brendan Rodgers regime but then Chelsea beat them to the race. And now that once again he was available in the market, Klopp did not want his club to slip up for a second time.

But ever since making a move back to England there has been some debate over the fact that Salah might not be able to cope with life in the English Premier League as he has failed to do so once in the past. Now the Liverpool manager has come out in defence of his new forward by saying that many a top player has failed to secure their place at Chelsea in the past, the prime example being Kevin De Bruyne.

Klopp has also emphasised on the fact that he, as a coach, has been a long time admirer of Salah’s talent. Klopp revealed that during his time at Dortmund he was very pleased with Salah’s skills, who at that point of time was a Basel player.

The Football Fan Base view:

Yes, Salah has bags full of talent and Klopp has every right to defend him. But to be very frank a lot of the so called ‘brilliant players’ have already fallen prey to the Premier League demon.

But Klopp is absolutely right about the Chelsea situation. In the past decade or so, there have been a lot of players who have been highly unsuccessful during their time at Chelsea but have eventually moved on to play important roles for a lot of other clubs.
