Liverpool suffer a huge setback after Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Sadio Mane is set to miss the rest of the season with his injuries.

The Senegalese international got injured in this month’s Merseyside Derby and had to be taken off. At first, he was unable to put pressure on his leg and had to limp off the pitch. Klopp hoped that the injury was not too serious and Mane would return within a few weeks.

But lately, news started coming out of Anfield that Mane might actually miss the rest of the season. Today the Liverpool manager confirmed the news saying that Mane needs surgery on his leg and will take no further action.

Klopp told the reporters, “Sadio will, pretty sure, need surgery. We’re not 100 percent sure when it will happen, but then it is clear his season is over.”

That’s what I expected, actually, when I saw the video after the game. I thought he was lucky in this situation that not more happened, but now we are close to the end of the season and that means it will be pretty much impossible that he will play again this season. But then he’ll have a long break and be ready for next season, so that’s the only good news.”

Twitter confirmed the news:

This is nothing but bad news for the Liverpool fans as Mane has been one of their key men. That last time he was not in the squad it was not really a good sight for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. When Mane left to play for the AFCON in January, Liverpool went through a dismal run of form. They literally handed over their title challenge. And now when Liverpool are fighting for the Champions League spot, they will again miss the services of the Senegalese.

In some good news, Lallana is on his way to recovery and both Henderson and Sturridge are back in training. Klopp will be hoping that these players can get fit before their Champions League challenge blowout in thin air.
