Barcelona have been having had a woeful start to the season. After having lost out on Neymar, the Catalans were humbled in the Super Cup by Real Madrid. And to add to their troubles Barcelona now will be without the services of Luis Suarez who is out with an injury. This means that Barcelona have been running short of personnel in the attacking third as a result of which they have stepped up their pursuit for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.

According to reports, Barcelona have just made a bid of £118 million for the Brazilian playmaker but it has been rejected by the Liverpool management citing the reason that Coutinho will not be sold.

Coutinho recently handed in a transfer request at Liverpool in order to force a move out of Anfield and he has also threatened to go on a strike if Liverpool do not allow him to leave. But FSG – the owners of Liverpool FC are not keen on parting ways with their star player.

The £118 million bid was the third bid from Barcelona that has been rejected by Liverpool. But reports have it that the Valverde’s side are not yet ready to give and will be returning with a new and improved bid.

As the transfer window is coming to a close, Barcelona’s impatience is growing stronger and stronger. The club has been struggling to find a replacement for Neymar Jr. The Catalans had shortlisted Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho as the potential replacements but both the deals are still stuck in murky waters.
