The third round of the EFL Cup is about to take place this midweek and Liverpool have the toughest opponents amongst all the top 6 Premier League clubs. The Reds travel to the King Power Stadium in order to face Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City.

Here’s a look at Liverpool’s EFL Cup lineup prediction:

Goalkeeper:

Danny Ward

Jurgen Klopp has already confirmed that Ward will be the goalkeeper of choice for Liverpool in the cup games. Will be a good opportunity for the player to get some game time under his belt.

Defence:

Trent Alexander Arnold

Arnold played the full 90 minutes during the weekend draw against Burnley and Klopp will have to start the 18-year-old during midweek simply cause Flanagan is not fully fit to play the whole match.

Ragnar Klavan

Klavan like Arnold also played during the weekend and is most likely to start against the Foxes also.

Dejan Lovren

Lovren was on the bench against Burnley and will pair up with Klavan in midweek just to give some much deserved rest to Joel Matip.

Moreno/Robertson

The left-back position is a bit of an unpredictable territory at the moment with both Alberto Moreno and Robertson equal contenders for the match.

Midfield:

Marko Grujic

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the 21-year-old Serbian International is going to start the match against the Foxes in the cup game meaning that Emre Can is going to get a much deserved rest.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Chamberlain started the match against Burnley on the bench and came on as a substitute in the second half. But with Klopp’s plan of resting Jordan Henderson, Chamberlain will get the much needed start in midfield.

Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum was a used substitute during the weekend and he will most likely partner Chamberlain in central midfield.

Attack:

Coutinho

Coutinho will play this match for two reasons. One because Klopp will need a flair player to break open Leicester and second is that this game will provide Coutinho with the perfect opportunity to get back his confidence and form after a long injury layoff.

Dominic Solanke

The youngster came off the bench in the weekend and showed some flashes of his talent. Klopp would hope that he can replicate the same against the Foxes and also score a few goals this time.

Ben Woodburn

The 17-year-old is currently one of the best young talents in the United Kingdom and he will be hoping to gain the confidence of his Liverpool manager.
