Liverpool hosted Burnley at Anfield this afternoon and it was one of those typical big vs bottom of the table clashes where Burnley sat back for the whole 90 minutes. The visitors though took a shock lead in the 27th minute but their joy was short-lived as Liverpool were quick to reply back with an equalizer just three minutes after going behind.

After that, it was just Liverpool’s attack vs Burnley’s defence. But the visiting team held on to take home a hard fought point.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a string of changes to the first team lineup today as the likes of Lovren, Wijnaldum and Henderson all found themselves on the bench. Philippe Coutinho made a return to the midfield and the Brazilian was partnering Emre Can and James Milner. This meant that summer signing Alex Oxlade Chamberlain was a substitute once again.

Here are the Liverpool players’ ratings vs Burnley:

Goalkeeper:

Simon Mignolet – 4/10

Was a spectator for most of the match and he can easily count the number of times that he actually touched the ball throughout the match. But did concede the 27th-minute goal from Arfield.

Defence:

Robertson – 5/10

Other than putting a few crosses into the box the left-back did not impress too much.

Matip – 6.5/10

Did not have much to do honestly other than a vital goal-line clearance during the last few minutes of the game and thus preventing Burnley from going home with all three points.

Klavan – 5/10

Was not troubled at all.

Alexander Arnold – 6/10

Put in a few fine crosses throughout the match but no one was there to capitalize on the other end. He almost helped Liverpool win the match during the dying moments of the game with an assist but Solanke hit the ball onto the crossbar.

Midfield:

Emre Can – 6.5/10

Took a few long range efforts but they were not quite enough to trouble the Burnley keeper. But he did provide the all-important cross through which Salah equalized the game for Liverpool.

Coutinho – 7/10

Had almost 80 minutes on the pitch but Klopp had to withdraw him due to his lack of fitness. And in reality, he was one of the few players who provided the much-needed spark for Liverpool all throughout the match.

Milner – 5.5/10

Had a decent enough game with no major talking points.

Attack:

Firmino – 6/10

Provided good support to Salah and company but lacked the edge that he was so famous for last season.

Salah – 7.5/10

Was gritty and determined. He also scored the goal that equalized the game for Liverpool and eventually got them a hard-fought point.

Sturridge – 6.5/10

Tried a lot of tricks and cute passes but honestly nothing much worked for the player.

Substitutes:

Chamberlain – N/A

Came on with 10 minutes on the clock but failed to add anything significant to the game.

Solanke – 5/10

Missed a golden opportunity to bag all three points for Liverpool as he hit the crossbar from virtually point-blank range.
