Liverpool’s predicted line up vs Man City: Will Philippe Coutinho make the cut?

The Premier League is back and with that comes the biggest game of the weekend. Liverpool take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool closed down the transfer window in fine fashion. Jurgen Klopp was able to bring in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal and he also managed to hold on to Philippe Coutinho – against the player’s will obviously.

Coutinho has reported back to training this week after he missed the first three games due a sore back, apparently. But the big question is – will Philippe Coutinho find a place in the first eleven?

Here’s Liverpool’s predicted line up vs Man City:

Goalkeeper:

Simon Mignolet will be the first choice keeper for Jurgen Klopp after resting him against Arsenal.

Mignolet

Defence:

Liverpool do not have too much of an option in terms of defence and he will stick to the central defensive pairing of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren. Alberto Moreno will be the left-back while Joe Gomez will be handed right-back duties as Nathan Clyne remains an absentee due to a hamstring injury.

Moreno – Matip – Lovren – Gomez

Midfield:

Adam Lallana is out of contention for the match as he is out with a long-term thigh injury. Other than that Jurgen Klopp has very little to worry about in terms of injury.

New signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will most likely not start for Liverpool and may be used as a substitute in the second half. This means that Klopp will rely on the midfield trio that destroyed Arsenal two weeks back.

Wijnaldum – Henderson – Emre Can

Attack:

Klopp will not tweak with his attacking third and will go with Firmino as the player who will play down the middle while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will be the attacking midfielders.

Sadio Mane – Firmino – Salah
