City brushed aside the Dutch champions Feyenoord 4-0 in the opening bout of this year’s Champions League campaign.

John Stones scored very early in the game before Aguero doubled the advantage within the first 10 minutes. Goals from Gabriel Jesus and John Stones again sealed a rather comfortable victory for Manchester City on the night.

Guardiola will be impressed with his side’s showing as he aims for success in both Europe as well as the domestic front.

Here are the major talking points from Man City’s victory:

1) City getting their mojo back

5-0 against Liverpool and 4-0 against Feyenoord means that City have now scored 9 in the span of 4 days without being breached. They are looking more and more like the side that they were expected to be before the season began. The Strikers are scoring, Midfielders creating and most importantly the fullbacks that Guardiola spent lavishly on are contributing both in attack as well as defence.

2) Certain Players standing up

It was a fact for concern for City fans as they did not know which players would be starting for their side before the season started. 4 weeks into the season, it seems that certain players are definitely going to be used more often than others. Ederson despite the nasty injury started which means that Pep does not trust Bravo anymore. Aguero and Jesus’s partnership is finally working as well. The likes of De Bruyne and David Silva are seeming virtually undroppable too.

3) Feyenoord still not up to European level

Van Bronckhorst’s side brushed aside every team to win the league last season and have started this season brightly too on the domestic front. However, facing European stalwarts like Manchester City is still a step too high. The difference in quality was visible from the first minute in the game. The manager will hope his young boys have not had their confidence affected drastically and must help them recover from the defeat.

4) Force to reckon with

It is too early to talk about a double, let alone a treble but City have built the squad for just that. The amount of depth in attacking areas could very well see City challenge for every trophy they are competing for come the end of the season. The players must remain injury-free and City surely can be considered contenders then.

5) Jesus and Aguero sharing the burden

Aguero and Jesus both scored against Liverpool and they repeated that against City. Earlier, the burden of scoring a vast majority of City’s goal lied on Aguero but since last season Jesus has started to show that even he can contribute. This is going to be exciting in the long run for the Citizens.
