Man City face Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick-off. The Blues will be without the suspended Raheem Sterling as the look to continue with their decent start. Both teams are currently on 7 points apiece and will look to further add to that tally. Liverpool are tough customers against the Top 6 and Guardiola will be wary of that fact when picking his lineup. Here is how we expect City to

Here is Man City’s predicted line up vs Liverpool:

Goalkeeper:

Ederson

The Brazilian custodian has not been tested much with his reflexes but expect that to change against Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s high pressing side creates a lot of chances and will constantly test the former Benfica keeper.

Defence:

Kyle Walker(RB)

The right back returns from suspension and will be drafted straight back in despite the impressive performance from Danilo. Pep will return to using four at the back and Walker will have to be more defensively adept against the threat of the Premier League’s man in form Sadio Mane.

John Stones (CB)

The England international might return because Vincent Kompany is carrying a knock from Belgium’s game. He will be expected to keep former Merseyside rivals attackers at bay.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

The Argentinian defender has to take up responsibility in Kompany’s absence. His no-nonsense style of defending will not please Guardiola but it is something the Catalonian should be accepting especially in big games like these.

Benjamin Mendy(LB)

The French left back was impressive in the attacking third against Bournemouth, consistently raiding down the flank and drilling crosses in the box. Against Liverpool, his defensive ability will be tested more than attacking as he faces a rampant Mohammed Salah on the left side.

Midfield:

Kevin De Bruyne (CM)

The Belgian has done nothing wrong this season so far. He is not popping up amongst the statistics as he is dropping deeper and deeper to make an impact. He is pulling the strings from the base of the midfield and doing a commendable job so far.

Fernandinho (CM)

He will be looking to deal with Liverpool’s attackers and cut them off in midfield itself. A Huge task lies on his shoulders and he will be hoping to perform with Ilkay Gundogan returning to full fitness and Yaya Toure waiting in the wings.

David Silva (CM)

Silva has dazzled so far for the Citizens. The Spaniard continued the form with Spain as well and will look to catch out a brittle Liverpool defence.

Attack:

Gabriel Jesus (LAM)

Jesus had started ahead of Aguero last time and he scored City’s equaliser. Despite that, many will agree that for most parts in the game he cut a frustrated figure alone up front. In Sterling’s absence, Pep may use him in withdrawn role ahead of Leroy Sane.

Bernardo Silva(RAM)

The fleet-footed winger impressed in his 64-minute appearance against Bournemouth. He will be looking to carry the same form ahead and perhaps make a more telling impact as he gets ready for his first big game in English football.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

Expected to be drafted right back in as Guardiola searches for goals and more clinical finishing. His past performances against Liverpool have been great and will be expecting put up a telling performance.

City will line up with a 4-3-2-1 formation with Sterling out suspended and Walker returning from it.
