According to reports, Manchester United duo Phil Jones and Daley Blind have suffered punishments following a breach of UEFA’s doping rules.

This incident dates back to Man Utd’s Europa League final against Ajax in Stockholm when both Jones and Blind were chosen by the UEFA officials for a random doping test after the match got over. And this angered English International Phil Jones who then allegedly abused the UEFA official. The Man Utd defender was angry because he missed out on the celebrations and a group photograph which was meant to pay tribute to the Manchester terror victims.

As a result of this unprofessional behaviour, Jones has been slapped with a two match ban and also fined €5,000. This means that the player is going to miss Manchester United’s Super Cup Match against Real Madrid next week and also the first match of the Champions League group stage.

Another United player that has been punished by UEFA is Daley Blind. The Dutch International has just been fined €5,000 because he arrived late for the doping test during the same match.

Manchester United have also been fined €10,000 for the breach of rules.

But Blind’s punishment was due to a major confusion. Unlike Phil Jones, Blind did take part in all the celebrations and also featured in the photograph but all under the watchful eye of an official. The Dutchman thought that this was legal but UEFA later clarified that it was not.
