Liverpool and Chelsea’s high profile clash yesterday ended with a scoreline of 1-1 and both managers have very little to complain about the outcome. The loss of two points will definitely be a huge blow to both the club’s title challenge but everyone knows that the draw was a pretty fair result based on the performances.

But Manchester United legend and current BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand has pointed out one Chelsea player’s poor performance and labelled him as an ‘absolute disgrace’. Chelsea went behind that to a strike from Mohamed Salah and the goal was a result of some poor defence from the Blues’ summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko. And Ferdinand said that Bakyoko was not up to his defensive duties as a result of which Gary Cahill was isolated way too often.

“If I was Gary Cahill out there I would be screaming at Bakayoko,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport,

“I think defensively he’s been an absolute disgrace today.

“He’s doing nothing, he’s letting people run off him he’s leaving Gary Cahill isolated.

“Gary Cahill with the experience he’s got he should be telling Bakayoko ‘left, right, back’ to protect.

“They’re letting the ball being rolled into (Mohamed) Salah every time the ball comes on this right-hand side.

“They’re causing problems.”

The draw leaves both the teams in a bit of a fix as Chelsea are now 8 points behind leaders Manchester City while Liverpool are in 5th spot – 11 points behind the leaders. While theoretically both the teams are still in the hunt for the title but in reality, Manchester City look far more convincing and they are surely not going to drop so many points in the coming few months.
