Jose Mourinho has said that a Spanish tax fraud case against him is “closed.”
According to a report by SkySports, Jose Mourinho appeared before the court on Friday as a result of which the case has now been settled.
The Portuguese was accused of non-payment of £2.9 million in taxes between 2011 and 2012 while he was the manager of Real Madrid. But now as per his statement, he has settled the accusations by paying a fee.
Mourinho said, “I left Spain in 2013 with the information and the conviction that my tax situation was perfectly legal,
“A couple of years later I was informed that an investigation was opened and I was told that in order to regularise my situation I had to pay X amount of money.
“I did not answer back, I did not discuss, I paid and signed the agreement with the state that confirms everything is definitively paid.
“That is why I have been here five minutes just to tell your Excellency the judge the same that I’m telling you. I have nothing else to say.”
Mourinho returned back to Manchester on Friday itself and has taken part in the team’s training before the high profile clash vs Chelsea on Sunday.
