Manchester United took on Benfica at Old Trafford on Tuesday night and came out as 2-0 winners. But the match was not exactly what the scoreline would suggest. Jose Mourinho’s men were outplayed and outclassed in almost every occasion as Benfica had control of the midfield for the full 90 minutes.

His shot led to the first goal for United after his long ranger hit the post and then rebounded off the Benfica keeper on the back and went into the goal.

But in a wonderful shift. Was given a warm reception when being substituted.

Made a couple of good solo runs but with no end product. Missed a penalty in the 15th minute.

Lingard: 5.5/10

Did not provide much. Was substituted at the end of the first half.

Lukaku: 7/10

Put in a great shift. Ran endlessly.

Substitutes:

Was brought on to tighten the midfield and did exactly that.
