Manchester United played out yet another draw at Old Trafford against relegation troubled Swansea. The draw means that they suffer yet another set back in the top four race. Looks as if winning the Europa League will be the best bet for United to play Champions League next season.

Players ratings:

  1. David De Gea: 6/10

Did not have much to do but made a few good saves. He failed to grab the 15th clean sheet of the season as he was undone by a brilliant free kick in the second half.

2. Daley Blind: 6/10

Was dependable in the back line. Made some good clearances. But he did struggle with the occasional long balls over the top.

3. Ashley Young: 7/10

Young played two different positions during the match. He started off at right back but was shifted to left back once Luke Shaw came off with an injury. He did not provide anything flashy but did the job which was provided to him.

4. Luke Shaw: NA

His stay on the pitch was too short to be rated. He had to be substituted early in the match with an injury.

5. Eric Bailly: 8/10

Was rock solid in defense. Made some brilliant interceptions and some great tackles. He was a shining light in an otherwise gloomy squad. But unfortunately, he could not complete the full 90 minutes as he had to be taken off due to an ankle injury.

6. Ander Herrera: 6/10

Did a decent enough job in midfield. Created some good passes in and around the opponents penalty area. However, his performance was nothing too special.

7. Micheal Carrick: 7/10

Mourinho will be very happy with his performance on the night. He shielded the defensive line brilliantly and going forward he made some good contributions.

8. Wayne Rooney: 4/10

Rooney had a below average performance to be very honest. He did not make any sort of positive impact on the match. He looked too weary and out of sorts. Rooney frequently lost the ball in important areas of the pitch and also did not provide any contribution defensively. He did score from the penalty spot, but other than that he provided absolutely nothing.

9. Jesse Lingard: 7/10

His pace and agility caused a few problems to Swansea’s defense. He made some good forward runs and passes. He had a wonderful chance in the first half which he failed to convert though.

10. Antony Martial: 7.5/10

Martial had a much-improved performance in this match as compared to his previous outings. He tormented the defenders with his pace and but in some fine crosses into the box. He also fulfilled his defensive duties as he came down to support United’s back line.

11. Marcus Rashford: 8/10

Rashford is making full use of the absence of Zlatan. For a few games now he has been playing through the middle and has been coming up with some fine performances. His work rate in this match was superb. He chased the ball endlessly. And with the ball at his feet, he made some fines attacking moves. He won the penalty through which United got their only goal of the match.

Substitutes:

  1. Antonio Valencia: 7/10

Valencia was initially given a rest by Mourinho but had to be called upon Luke Shaw’s early departure. He put in another fine performance. Was rock solid in defense and was equally good while going upfront.

2. Matteo Darmian: 6/10

Came in as a replacement for the injured Eric Bailly. Did not have much to do though during his time on the pitch.

3. Mkhitaryan: NA
