It looks as if Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to go into a battle for the signature of Genoa’s wonderkid Pietro Pellegri.

Pellegri is only 16 years old but the centre-forward is already a hot property in the European footballing market. While Chelsea have been tracking the player for quite some time now, it looks as if Manchester United have also entered the race.

Pellegri, 16, is a Genoa youth team product and has already made 7 appearances for their senior side. He also became the joint youngest Serie A debutant when he played his first senior match for Genoa back in December 2016.

Chelsea and Man Utd are both looking at the player as a future prospect. Chelsea want to sign up the youngster so that he can be a long-term partner to Spaniard Alvaro Morata and United also want to do the same by linking Pellegri with Romelu Lukaku. While Man Utd do have a series of players who are quite capable of playing in the centre-forward position but Jose Mourinho clearly does not want to let this opportunity slip past him.

But the player will not come cheap if both the teams eventually decide to go for him. Genoa has set a price tag of £40 million which is quite steep considered he is only 16 years old.
