The English media is going ga-ga over the fact that Sutton United, a non-league team managed to defeat Leeds United. In fact, this is the first time that two non-league football teams have progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Lincoln City FC being the other one.

Now let’s talk about Paul Doswell. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this name, and I am sure there are many. He is the manager of Sutton United. Yes, he has managed to guide his team to a historic moment for the club. He rallied his troops for this famous victory and so on. This is the usual stuff actually.

But, there is more to it that meets the eye. Doswell actually does not get paid to manage the team. In fact, he is a volunteer at the club like most of the other non-playing staff. Now that is something quite remarkable. To have that amount of dedication when you are not getting paid a single penny is praiseworthy.

Wait, there is more. He not only works for free but also pays for the expenses of the club. In many ways, he is a sponsor of the club. He has paid thousands of pounds from his own pocket to the club and has been doing so for nine years. Doswell also paid about half a million dollar for laying the pitch at Sutton’s home ground.

Sutton United have drawn Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup at home. While many must be thinking that it is a no brainer and Arsenal are going to win. But Sutton will be very happy with this draw as it will bring in a huge amount of money to the club.
