According to a report in the Don Balon, Pep Guardiola is pretty close to signing Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez who was once close to joining Arsenal a couple of seasons ago could now move to the Etihad during the January transfer window. Mahrez was also spotted chatting with Guardiola after Saturday’s meeting between the two clubs and many people think Guardiola is looking at the Algerian as a back up to his primary attacking options.

The kind of form that Guardiola’s attacking players are in, Mahrez will most surely not be guaranteed a regular spot in the first team lineup. But with his talent and trickery, he can surely act as a great substitute for Guardiola.

Now Mahrez will have to decide.

Main man at Leicester or a substitute at Manchester City?
