Bournemouth looked like they were going to pick up a valuable point after Daniels’ stunning opener was cancelled out by Jesus but they were carved apart in the 97th minute and will be left with nothing to show for their efforts.

Manchester City kept trying hard to break down a determined Bournemouth side and finally managed to do so with Raheem Sterling yet again saving the Blues. They were not at their best throughout the match but managed to find a vital goal right at the death to take home 3 points. Sterling’s red for celebrating with the crowd despite already being cautioned will surely anger an already frustrated Guardiola but he will be happy they managed to scrape their way through this one.

Here are the Manchester City players’ ratings vs Bournemouth:

Ederson – 6.5/10

Great save from Defoe’s strike but could not do much for Daniels’ stunning strike. Did well to come out of his area and catch hold of high crosses as well.

Danilo – 6.5/10

Managed to get himself an assist late in the game for Sterling’s goal. Could have done better to stop Daniels from shooting for the opener.

Vincent Kompany – 6/10

A little rash from the start. King did well to physically stand up to the big Belgian. Lucky to remain on the pitch after the referee missed out on a blatant push which could have easily been a second yellow.

Nicolas Otamendi – 5.5/10

Kept get involving in tussles with King and Defoe and made a few rash challenges early on. Unlucky not to score after his header rattled off the crossbar.

Mendy – 6/10

Still new to the pace of the Premier League. Did well to whip in some dangerous looking crosses. Will be exciting to see once in full flow.

Fernandinho – 6/10

Solid display from the Brazilian except one mistake where he gave away the ball just before King struck the post. Needs to offer more attacking penetration.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7.5/10

Really controlled the game from deep as most of City’s attacking threat passed through him. Rarely laid a pass wrong for his mates as he is slowly looking to get back to his best.

David Silva – 7/10

It was his sublime pass to Jesus that saw City get the equaliser. Influential figure throughout the game as he always looked to carve the Cherries defence open.

Bernardo Silva – 7/10

Quite an impressive performance from the Portuguese in his first start. Incredible first touch, delightful balance, and some creative passing from the former AS Monaco winger. Pep will be delighted with his man.

Raheem Sterling – 7/10

Rewarded for his goal against Everton by a place in the starting XI today. Was disappointing throughout till he got City the winner in the 96th min. Took a stupid red card after celebrating with the crowd despite already being on a yellow.

Gabriel Jesus – 7/10

Took his goal well after Silva’s cutting pass. Was lively all afternoon and did his reputation no harm.

Substitutes

Aguero – 6.5/10

Replaced Bernardo Silva in the 65th min as City looked to find a way past Begovic.

Sane – 6.5/10

Troubled the tired Bournemouth backline with his pace late in the game.

John Stones – N/A

Brought on late in the 97th min in an attempt to hold on to the lead.
