Manchester United are preparing to outdo themselves in the transfer market.
According to a report in the Don Balon, Manchester United are willing to pay a staggering £177 million in a bid to bring Marco Asensio to Old Trafford next summer. United’s paid £89 million for the services of Paul Pogba a couple of seasons ago and the Frenchman is currently the second most expensive player in the world after Neymar. And now United want to make him the third most expensive player with the signing of Marco Asensio.
The 21-year-old has had a meteoric rise at the Bernabeu and is currently one of the key players in Zidane’s first XI. But with United ready to pay such a staggering amount, Florentino Perez might find it very hard to stop Asensio.
As per the news, United’s manager Jose Mourinho has already made contact with Asensio over the potential switch and the Portuguese is willing to give him a whopping £24 million a year deal if he wears the Red of Manchester United.
It is clear to everyone that Zidane is in the process of rebuilding the squad and is looking to clear out a lot of players in order to raise funds. While Asensio is certainly not on that list but a deal worth £177 million can surely make the manager think twice.
