Manchester United Supporters Trust(MUST) have invited their club’s manager Jose Mourinho to “discuss his concerns” over the current atmosphere prevailing at Old Trafford.

This argument was first sparked when Mourinho blasted a certain section of the fans by telling them to back Romelu Lukaku and think of him as “untouchable” just like he does. Then came the “finger on the lips” gesture after the win against Spurs which was also directed at the fans.

But this issues did not stop here as Mourinho wrote in the pre-match programme against Benfica that he hoped the supporters “enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham”.

This is why MUST have invited the manager over for a chat in order clear out the air.

MUST released a statement which read, “There are differing views amongst supporters on precisely how to interpret the manager’s comments,

“However it’s probably fair to say there is a universal desire within the stadium to see atmosphere improved just as there is at other Premier League clubs.

“There are a number of factors that have contributed to atmosphere decline over the decades, some of which could be addressed with better co-operation between clubs and supporters.

“MUST would certainly appreciate the opportunity to engage with the manager, as part of our existing dialogue with other club officials, on issues around atmosphere and would be more than happy to meet to discuss his concerns.”

Manchester United’s next game at Old Trafford will be on November 18 against Newcastle United and both the supporters and the manager will be hoping that this issue can be resolved before that date.
