Manchester United have finally ended their goal drought of sorts by defeating Newcastle United 4-1 at Old Trafford. The game saw United go behind by a goal early in the first half by then the Red Devils responded brilliantly with goals from Marital, Lukaku, Smalling and Paul Pogba.
Here are the Manchester United players ratings:
David De Gea: 7/10
Did not have much to do throughout the match. Conceded the first goal at home since April but he could do nothing about it.
Smalling: 7.5/10
Was solid defensively. Scored an all-important goal during the added time of the first half.
Lindelof: 6.5/10
United conceding the goal was partly his fault. The Swede slipped at a crucial moment to give Gayle the opportunity to put the ball into the back of the net.
Valencia: 7.5/10
Put in a good shift and came up with some good crosses.
Young: 7.5/10
Provided very good support to Anthony Martial on the left flank. Was solid defensively.
Matic: 8/10
Stuck to his job perfectly. Provided a good support to the defensive line and also moved forward in attacks.
Pogba: 9/10
Pogba’s return to the starting line-up was the key factor for United’s win. The Frenchman made one goal while scored another and his creativity was a driving factor for Mourinho’s men.
Mata: 7/10
Gave up with some good link up plays all throughout his time on the pitch but not that influential.
Rashford: 8/10
Linked up well with both Martial and Lukaku. Was an attacking threat.
Martial: 8.5/10
Is finally looking every worth of the big money transfer. Tormented defenders throughout the match and also scored the all-important equaliser.
Lukaku: 8/10
Was much more involved in the game today. Held the ball up well and made decent runs all throughout the match. Also ended his goal drought.
