Manchester United players’ rating v/s Everton

David De Gea: 6/10

De Gea did not have much to do for most of the match. But he was partially responsible for the goal that United conceded. He should have come out and claimed the ball but hesitated. And it eventually led to the goal.

Marcos Rojo: 4/10

Rojo was responsible for man marking Lukaku and in all honesty did a fair enough job. But it was his error that led to the goal. Rojo should have been much stronger while dealing with Jagielka in the box. His casual attitude was a big mistake and United badly paid for it.

Eric Bailly: 6/10

Bailly had a good game. Bailly made a few important challenges all throughout the match especially one late in the match from Lukaku. He looked lively and played some good enough forward passes. He was also the first to get to the loose balls most of the times.

Ashley Young: 7/10

Mourinho played Young in right back to give Valencia a much-deserved rest. And Young repaid the faith of his manager with a very good performance. He was fantastic while going forward as well as in the back. But sadly he had to be removed late into the second half due to an injury scare.

Daley Blind: 4/10

To put it in simple words, Blind’s performance was disappointing. Apart from that one great free kick in the first half, he had nothing much to be proud of. He crossing was all over the place and most of it did not even cross the first defender. Eventually, he was substituted by Mourinho.

Carrick: 5/10

Carrick more or less stuck to the job that he was delegated with. He created some good forward balls and was strong in the midfield. But as the match went by his influence on the attacks diminished. As a result of which, he was substituted in the second half.

Herrera: 8/10

Herrera was by far the best player in United’s colour on the night. He played with a fair amount of pace and urgency all throughout the match. Herrera made some great runs into the box. He also put in some great crosses. Herrera was truly unlucky when his shot scraped the bar in the first half. Mourinho would definitely be proud by the shift that the Spaniard put in.

Fellaini: 3/10

Fellaini was stationed in midfield to serve primarily two causes. Firstly, support the defense and then play as an additional striker when the time comes. While he did his defensive job fairly well, but his finishing in the opponent’s half was all over the place. He missed a few great chances to put United back on level terms. And maybe even provide them the lead.

Lingard: 6/10

Lingard made some good movements in and around the box. He also occasionally came down to receive and ball and was trying to build the attack from midfield.

Rashford: 4/10

Rashford had a terrible game. He provided little support to both Ibrahimovic and Lingard upfront and lost the ball too often. He has just not been able to replicate the kind of attacking sense he showed last season. Mourinho was about to substitute him with Martial during the last minutes of the game. But the manager had to change his plans due to the injury to Ashley Young.

Ibrahimovic: 6/10

Ibrahimovic remained isolated for most of the match. He basically received no service during the 90 minutes. But he did score the all-important penalty that drew the game for United. He also scored a header during the match but it was adjudged offside by the linesman.

Substitutes:

Pogba: 4/10

He was introduced to bulk up the attack during the last session of the match. Apart from hitting the post with a header, he did not do anything noticeable.

Mkhitaryan: 4/10

After he came on the pitch, United did look a little stronger going upfront. But like Pogba he also did not impact the game too much.

Luke Shaw: 5/10

Like the other substitute, even he did not do much after coming on. But it was his shot that won United the penalty in injury time.
