Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend as they host West Bromwich at Old Trafford. United’s season, as well as their league standing, is in muddy waters right now. They are currently fifth in the league standing. It may seem like a good place to be but the place is all too crowded for United’s liking. They are just a few points shy of rivals Liverpool and Man City, and that elusive fourth place. But then, both Everton and Arsenal are breathing down their neck. One slip up at this point of the season and it might force United to slip down again to the clutches of Non-Premier League action.

Mourinho’s Injury Worries:

Mourinho will definitely have a few headaches to deal with in this match. He like every other manager knows very well that a Tony Pulis side is all about physicality. That’s the only way the Baggies play and they have no inhibitions about it. But unfortunately, Mourinho might not have the cavalry to deal with it.  While Ibrahimovic and Herrera remain suspended, Smalling and Jones are both out with injuries. And to add to the Portuguese’sworries it looks as if Paul Pogba might not be fit as well. So United will definitely be going into this match with a skinny squad and Mourinho might have to rely on Fellaini to marshal the midfield and provide the physicality.

So United will definitely be going into this match with a skinny squad and Mourinho might have to rely on Fellaini to marshal the midfield and provide the physicality. While Fellaini had not been a crowd favourite this season but Mourinho has shown a great deal of faith in him. And it looks as if he will have to use the tall Belgian once again in midfield to counter the Baggies’ physical dominance.

Tony Pulis will definitely be relishing this situation. And he will feel that he has a great chance of bringing out points from Old Trafford. His game plan is very simple yet effective. And he used this game plan to great success in the last month when his side defeated Arsenal 3-1. The Baggies are currently eight in the league standing just nine points off Manchester United. A win or even a draw under these circumstances can help boost that all important top 6 finish for Tony Pulis’s side.
