Manchester United next face Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City at home. With 8 goals scored in two games and none conceded, Manchester United will go into the game as favourites. Leicester City, however, have had a decent start of their own. 5 goals in 2 games is what they’ve managed in their start to this season.

Stats:

Manchester United have had the best start to a Premier League season in over 100 years. They will look to continue in the same vein of form on Saturday.

Leicester City have had a dismal record at Old Trafford, with their last win in 1998. But Craig Shakespeare seems to have brought back the winning mentality that was central to their League win in 2015/16. Their performance against Arsenal was commendable and they would aim at bettering their performance at Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku could not have dreamt of a better start to his career at Manchester United and will look to continue in the same manner against the Foxes. If he manages to score again, it will be the first time in the Premier League era that a Manchester United player has scored in the first three league games for the club.

Manchester United’s defence has managed to keep two clean sheets in their first two games of the season. The test against Leicester would be tougher in comparison. Craig Shakespeare’s men have managed to score in all of their games with the exception of one. So, expect plenty of goals when the two meet!

Team News:

Manchester United were buoyed by the return of Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo back in training with the first team. However, it would be too early to expect them to feature just yet.

Another absentee would be Victor Lindelof, who is adjusting to life in the Premier League.
Otherwise, we might be expecting a full-strength Manchester United turn up against the Foxes.

Here’s how they might line up.

David de Gea will be expected to hold his position and will have to be at his very best if he wants to come out of the game with another clean sheet.
The defence would be unchanged as Mourinho seems to have found a great degree of comfort due to the Bailly-Jones partnership in the centre. Valencia is the only real option United have at Right Back, making him indispensable. Daley Blind will expect to continue after some decent displays at Left Back.

The midfield too will most likely, remain unchanged. Matic will be the anchor in the midfield trio with Mata and Pogba playing higher up.

Attack might see the inclusion of Anthony Martial into the starting lineup after a string of stellar performances in his cameo appearances so far.

Manchester United will be expected to line up in their preferred 4-3-3 formation.
