Sony Norde made his first start for the Green and Maroon Brigade since landing in Kolkata last week. And the results were immediately there for all to see. Mohun Bagan suddenly got their flair back and the brushed aside Minerva winning by 4-0.

Bagan broke the deadlock just sixteen minutes into the first half when Darryl Duffy nodded in a header from a Norde free kick. In the 28th minute, India’s Footballer of the Year Jeje Lalpekhlua made it 2-0 for the mariners.

Four minutes later Duffy made it three as Katsumi set him up for an easy tap past the onrushing goalkeeper.

Mohun Bagan walked into half time with a 3-0 lead and the game was dead and buried by then. In the second half coach Sanjay Sen made a host of changes, even taking off goalkeeper Debjit to give the reserve goalkeeper Shilton Paul some game time.

Mohun Bagan played with a lot more ease in the second half and in the 77th minute, Jeje bundled home a goal to make it 4 for the hosts. Even though Bagan played while a lot of style and finesse but they did miss a few goal scoring opportunities most notably from Balwant and Sony Norde.

Mohun Bagan hit the road for the next match as they play Chennai City FC on the 21st of January, 2017.
