Chelsea have already signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid and are currently on the lookout for a suitable partner for the Spaniard. But if the Blues’ pre-season is anything to go by then they might already have a partner for the Spaniard amongst their ranks.

Chelsea signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille in 2016 against the back of 33 goals in just 78 games. The Belgian International arrived at Stamford Bridge with a lot of promise but his season at Chelsea was largely overshadowed by Diego Costa. But now things are looking different for the 23-year-old. Batshuayi has already scored four goals in two friendly games this summer and looks like a totally new player. He has shown a new hunger and determination this pre-season and Antonio Conte has praised his performances.

And now even his teammate Thibaut Courtois has backed him to achieve newer heights this coming season.

While speaking to Standard, Courtois said, “With Diego scoring a lot of goals last season, Michy didn’t get a lot of appearances.”

“Maybe he didn’t always do what the manager asked and the manager is very demanding when it comes to the strikers.”

“But Michy knows that Diego is leaving the club and he has a moment to prove himself. He is training well, doing what the manager asks and is scoring goals.

“For him it’s good. He needs to show that mentality every day in training and in every game. Michy is a top striker, he showed that in Marseille and with the national team. He has shown in the few minutes he’s had at Chelsea, he has always done well. I hope he can build on that.”

The Football Fan Base view:

Conte is out in the market to find a partner to Alvaro Morata but he might as well give Michy Batshuayi a chance up front.
