Mizoram’s 15-year-old teenager Lalchungnunga Chhangte is all to train with the Bundesliga. He was selected from one of the Tata Football Academies to train in Germany where he will be training for six years.

The Tata Football Trust had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mizo Govt to nurture the sporting talents in the state.

He comes from a humble background and his father is a daily wage labourer who had no idea about how good his son was. But it was the local people who made him aware of his son’s talent. His father immediately knew that supporting his son’s dream would not be easy for him. But somehow he did not give up. And finally, the teenage boy has got what he deserved.

Chhangte becomes the newest footballing talent to come out of the state. Mizoram has had a history of producing fine Indian footballers. And has been doing so for quite some time now. All of India would be hoping that Chhangte can be another addition to that list. The little boy has been nicknamed as the Mizo Messi by the local people.

Mizoram won the Santosh Trophy in 2014 but that is not the only feather in the state’s cap. They have produced some fine footballing talents over the year. Indian and present Mohun Bagan striker Jeje Lalpekhlua is also part of that fine Mizo contingent. The state was also selected by the FIFA’s Grassroots project and had an artificial turf installed in Luangmual in the year 2011. Recently Aizawl FC also became the first Mizo team to qualify for the I-League, the national league of the country.

We at Football Fan would like to wish the lad all the very best. We hope he achieves all his dreams and comes back to India as a superstar.
