Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City as Guardiola’s men look to have sealed the Premier League title in December itself.

City had the first strike of the game when David Silva put the ball into the back of the net after Romelu Lukaku failed to clear the ball from a corner. But United responded almost immediately with a Marcus Rashford goal 4 minutes after going behind. But Guardiola’s men put in the sucker punch in the second half through Nicolas Otamendi. This goal was also due to an error from Romelu Lukaku who once again failed to clear the ball and it felt neatly for the City defender.

After the match BBC Sports asked Mourinho if he thought that City would lift the title at the end of the season to which the Portuguese replied that he the title race is probably over.

Mourinho said, “Probably, yes.

“Manchester City are a very good team and they are protected by the luck, and the gods of football are behind them.

“I’m pretty sure everyone is going to fight for points and try and reduce the distance, but the advantage is a very good one.”

But the United manager also believed that Guardiola’s side was being protected by luck in their run and this will play a major factor in them winning the Premier League.
