Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Arsenal transfer target Leon Goretzka from Schalke.

The 22-year-old German International has made over 100 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit and news around Germany is that Schalke are willing to sell the player off to the right buyer. And upon learning this, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is preparing a big money move for the player during the end of the season.

Goretzka has also been on the radar of fellow North London club Arsenal for quite some time now and Wenger is also supposed to make a move for him next summer. But both these North London clubs might face some stiff competition as the player remains keen to move to either Barcelona or Bayern Munich – and the feeling seems to be mutual.

Goretzka joined Schalke back in June of 2013 for a fee that was reported to be between €3,000,000 and €4,000,000. And in these five seasons, the midfielder has clocked up 19 goals.

Arsenal are set to lose a string of first-team players next summer as the likes of Ozil and Sanchez will hopefully not be renewing their contracts. So it is pretty clear that Wenger will need to bring in a lot of reinforcements before the next campaign kicks off.
