Pep Guardiola is all praise about his counterpart

Pep Guardiola believes that Bournemouth managed Eddie Howe is destined for greater things.

The clubs that finished in the top 8 of the Premier League last year all had foreign managers but Pep has got reason to believe that Howe could be at the helm for one of those sooner rather than later. He also added that he is not here to take the English guy’s jobs.

“Of course he is able to work in the top teams,” said Guardiola. “He is young and that is going to happen. It will be good for English managers like him and Mark Hughes and others.

“I had an opportunity when I was young that is true. It is a good question for the sporting directors and the guys who run the clubs.

“It’s not my fault when someone calls me at my home one day and says ‘would you like to come to the Premier League?'”

“They called me and I decided to come but of course they (English managers) are able to coach well.”

Eddie Howe, just 39 years of age himself, has in the past linked with Arsenal. He is said to be the man wanted at the Emirates when long serving manager Arsene Wenger finally leaves.

Howe will be extremely disappointed nonetheless with the manner in which Bournemouth lost to Man City. The Cherries were seemingly on their view to a draw which would see them get their first point of the season when tragedy struck.

Raheem Sterling scraped one in the goal in the 96th min as Bournemouth lost 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries’ players continued to protest over the continuation of the game beyond stoppage time as the believed the whistle should have been blown earlier than it did.

“I am really pleased with the players, they were dogged and disciplined,” said Howe. “There was also a great atmosphere in the stadium so I have to thank the supporters for that. Howe said.

“There are so many good things to take from the game. We created chances, both strikers did very well. We were tenacious and the players gave everything, that’s all I can ask. They are in the dressing room very disappointed, but off the ball more than on it, that was much more like an AFC Bournemouth performance.” He added.

“Our aim for the second half was to kill the game. We are not frustrated at the goal being scored when it was scored, but more up the other end.

“This is the closest we have been, we were very good today, and we had to change the way we played. We went a different way and I have to compliment the players. But we had our chances to win it too, so it’s hugely frustrating.”

Both Pep and Howe will have plenty of time to ponder over this fixture as the players head into an international break.

Manchester City face Liverpool at the Etihad in an exciting fixture after the international break whereas Bournemouth have a difficult trip to North London as they face Arsenal.
