The Philippe Coutinho transfer saga has suddenly taken a quite unexpected and sensational turn.

According to a report, Coutinho might just go on a strike at his current club, in order to force a move to Barcelona before the transfer window closes down. Barcelona have been wanting to sign the Brazilian for quite a long time now but ever since the Catalans lost Neymar to PSG, the desire to add Coutinho to their squad has intensified.

Barcelona have made several bids for Coutinho but Liverpool have rejected each and every one of them claiming that Coutinho will not be sold. It was also reported that Coutinho had handed in a transfer request at Anfield in order to move to Spain during the summer. And now this news of going on a strike certainly adds another dimension to this transfer saga.

So have Barcelona tapped Phillipe Coutinho once again?

Well, the Catalan giants have this bad habit of tapping players up who then hand in a transfer request at their current club and then Barcelona about the concerned club with a bid. They did it with Neymar when he was playing back in Brazil and also with Veratti this summer. And now it looks as if they have repeated this act with Coutinho.

Barcelona have realized that it will be next to impossible for them to negotiate with Liverpool directly. So the club might just have used the back route and asked Phillipe Coutinho to spark a revolt at Liverpool.

As per the report, Coutinho has told his manager Jurgen Klopp that he does not wish to wear the Red of Liverpool again. Even if that means risking his place at next year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
