The Virgil Van Dijk transfer saga has a new entrant.
The transfer window shuts down tomorrow and the last 48 hours has always been home to some crazy rumours. The latest one being Arsenal’s interest in signing up Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton.
Arsenal suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Liverpool last weekend after which the manager received a fair bit of stick from the supporters for the team’s defensive frailties. They also complained of the fact that instead of strengthening their back line Wenger was selling one defender after the other.
Now it looks as if Wenger has risen from his slumber and decided to join the Van Dijk marathon. It is being reported that Arsenal are keen to land the Dutchman and the Saints are also ready to do business with them but given the fact that the Gunners add Theo Walcott to the transaction.
Liverpool are said to be the frontrunners in the Van Dijk deal but they have had sort of a sour relationship with the Saints during the length of the summer. And as per the reprot, the Anfield outfit is waiting for another club to make a bid before them due to a fear that they might get reported again.
So will Arsenal eventually beat Liverpool or will a bid from the Gunners open the flood gates eventually washing Van Dijk to the Merseyside shores?
