Real Madrid scored three goals past Sociedad as they move four points clear at the top of the league. Zidane shuffled his side a little bit and rested some of his first team players. But that didn’t matter much as they had a rather easy evening.

Kovacic and Morata shine:

Madrid managed to score one goal in the first half courtesy of Kovacic after he was found by a brilliant through ball from Ronaldo. But apart from that Madrid looked flat for most of the first half. They handed over easy possession to Sociedad every now and then. But the visitors barely posed a threat for the home team. Juanmi did have a shot in the first half but the ball flew past the net without troubling Navas.

In the second half, Kovacic returned the favour after he provided a through ball for Ronaldo who scored Madrid’s second goal of the night. The was almost a replica of the first goal as Madrid went two goals ahead. Benzema was replaced by Alvaro Morata just after the one hour mark to give the player some much-needed game time. He scored a wonderful headed goal from a free kick but unfortunately, he was flagged offside. But he did eventually get his goal after a swift counter attack from Madrid in the 83rd minute.

In between all these goals, Sociedad went down to ten men in the 74th minute after Inigo Martinez made an absolute reckless challenge on Casemiro. This was his second booking of the night and as a result, he was given the marching orders.

Closest rivals loose points:

Madrid will be really happy with this win as the move another step closer towards winning the title. More so as all the other top four teams have lost crucial points this weekend. Barcelona and Athletico drew with Betis and Alaves respectively. Whereas Sevilla lost their match 3-1 to Espanyol.
