It seems that Real Madrid have given up hopes of signing Manchester United keeper David De Gea and now want to bring Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois to the Bernabeu.

De Gea went agonisingly close to signing for Real Madrid back in 2015 but the deal collapsed during the final few seconds of the transfer window. Since then the Manchester United No 1 has gone on to sign a new deal at the club and looks quite happy with life in Manchester.

And this is one of the main reasons why Real Madrid seem to have given up on the chase of the Atletico man and are now focusing on Courtois – as per the Independent.

Madrid also wanted to sign Courtois back in 2015 but Chelsea then quoted a price of £76 million and the Blues have not lowered their asking price since then. Courtois’ current contract at Stamford Bridge ends in 2019 and he is yet to sign a new deal. Hence Real Madrid are hoping that Chelsea will be willing to lower the price in fear of losing him for free.

Zidane is also after Eden Hazard and it will not be an absolute shocker if he puts in a bid for Thibaut Courtois during the summer.
