Real Madrid lost 3-0 to Barcelona in today’s El Clasico and the Los Blancos outfit were outclassed and outplayed in almost every department.

Most of the Real players failed to make any sort of impact but one notable player who had a very poor game was Frenchman Karim Benzema.

Karim Benzema has had a poor season in general – scoring just two goals in 12 league appearances and the dud against Barcelona today was perhaps the icing on the cake(if you are willing to look at it that way). The Los Blancos decided to sell off Alvaro Morata during the summer showing their faith on Benzema but now its pretty clear that the decision has heavily backfired.

But Florentino Perez wants to make things right as soon as possible by buying a new striker during the January transfer window. Reports are suggesting that Real Madrid are planning to launch a high profile bid for Inter’s Mauro Icardi. The Argentine has been hot property during the current season having managed to score 17 goals in 17 games in the Serie A this season.

Icardi has rightly attracted a lot of attention this season with both Chelsea and Arsenal seemingly interested in the 24-year-old. Icardi is currently managed by his wife who recently claimed that the Stamford Bridge outfit have been following Icardi for a long time now.

Real Madrid are set to be preparing a £124 million pound bid for the striker which means that Karim Benzema could be put up for sale very soon.
