Real Madrid won their final game against Malaga 2-0 and with that, they lifted their first league trophy since 2012.

Real Madrid held their nerves on the final matchday of La Liga and gained a comfortable victory over Malaga. And it was Cristiano Ronaldo who started the scoring once again for Zidane’s men. Ronaldo found himself on the end of a brilliant through ball by Isco and he rounded up the goalkeeper to put the ball into the back of the net.

Ronaldo’s early goal settled a lot of early nerves in Madrid. On the other hand, it also broke a lot of hearts in Barcelona. The second goal came in the second half of the match through Benzema. The Frenchman had an easy rebound tap-in after the Malaga goalkeeper had saved a brilliant header from Sergio Ramos.

Barcelona won their respective match against Eibar 4-2. But a win was not enough for them. They needed Madrid to slip up against Malaga. But at the end of it all, there were no plot twists.

Zidane is the man of the hour:

Zinedine Zidane is only in his first season as the Real manager and he has managed to win the Liga title after five long years. The last time Real won the title it was under the management of Jose Mourinho.

“For Real Madrid, because it is the best club in the world we have to return with this league title. It has been a difficult season that we worked hard for, with some tough moments, but after 38 games we are top and that is it.”

With the Champions League final coming up in a fortnight’s time Zidane and his men will have the chance to perform the impossible. If they manage to win the Champions League then they will become the first team to successfully defend the title since the tournament’s revamp.

Ronaldo has something to say:

As Real Madrid were busy celebrating their 33rd league title, Cristiano Ronaldo hit back at his critics stating that he is not a ‘delinquent’ as many people label him to be. Ronaldo said that people have a wrong image of him both inside and outside of football.

“They always have two stones in their hands when I speak. I am not a saint, but I’m not a devil either, which is what many people say I am.”

Real Madrid cut their celebrations short at the Malaga stadium and flew back to Madrid just after the match to resume their celebrations in their hometown.
