If you have not been living under a rock then you will probably have heard about the fight for Romelu Lukaku’s services.

And the two contenders in this battle are Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United. And both these teams are facing the same kind of problem. They are currently without any top class striker.

Chelsea have told their current striker Diego Costa that he can leave while United have let go of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. So as things stand both of them are in desperate need of a striker.

And the answer to both their problems seems to be Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian who is currently an Everton player had told the Toffees that he wished to leave in the summer. And everyone could have safely said that he was going to join Chelsea, the club that he had left in 2014.

But then suddenly Manchester United came out of nowhere and joined the race. And not only did United participate but as things stand they are sprinting towards the finish line.

Lukaku initially wanted to move back to Chelsea before United came calling.

Earlier this week it was reported that Manchester United and Everton had agreed upon a fee somewhere in the region of £75 million for Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian International who is currently holidaying in the USA is scheduled to have his medical in California and straightaway join United on their pre-season tour.

But now it looks as if Chelsea are not going to give up without a proper fight. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea have matched the bid made by United.

Chelsea have agreed to pay £75 million for the striker, the same amount of money that Everton would receive from Manchester United. But sadly the ball has still not rolled back into Chelsea’s court.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is desperate for a high-profile striker after asking Diego Costa to leave.

So, if Lukaku decides to sign for Manchester United then his agent Mino Raiola will receive £10 million from the Old Trafford outfit. But that amount will drastically decrease if Lukaku decides to move to Chelsea.

So as things stand, Lukaku will have the final say in this. Whether he wants to move back to Chelsea, a club that is dear to his heart. Or if he wants to move to Old Trafford and join Mourinho’s rebuilding process.
