Southampton travel to Manchester in order to take on the league leaders on Wednesday. And Saints manager Mauricio Pellegrino claims that the Pep Guardiola juggernaut is not invincible. Pellegrino insists that Manchester City can be beaten at the Etihad this season and his team are looking forward to becoming the first team to do so.

While speaking to Sky Sports Pellegrino said, “Nobody is unbeatable in football and in sport. Every single team has got problems because yesterday Huddersfield were really close to getting something. We have to be on the top if we want to have any chance. Hopefully, it could be a nice day for us.

“We’ll play against one of the best sides in the Premier League, it will be really tough for us and we will need to be 100 percent with our performance and our attitude if we want to have any chance. It’s incredible how they can sustain their performance every single game, playing mostly with the same players. To be the top team the first thing that you need is to create a mentality to try and to do it and I think now they are in an amazing moment.”

And just trying to put things into perspective Southampton are currently 13th on the league table with a goal difference of -2 while City, on the other hand, are top of the table with a goal difference of +34. The Saints have scored just 13 goals this season out of which 4 came in Sunday’s game against Everton.

All the best, Pellegrino.
