It looks as if Manchester United’s efforts of signing Nemanja Matic have failed drastically. More than a week has passed and there has been little to no progress.
And to make matters worse, Manchester United’s possible signing of Romelu Lukaku has made matters more complicated. If Lukaku joins Manchester United then Chelsea will probably not let Nemanja Matic head to Old Trafford.
So, under these circumstances, it looks as if Man Utd have moved their focus back to Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier. According to the Guardian, United are preparing a bid of £50 million in order to knock on the Tottenham door.
Will Spurs be ready to sell Dier?
Maybe yes. Maybe no.
To be very honest it is really hard to predict. More so because Spurs have already rejected a bid from United earlier this summer.
But given the circumstances that Spurs are under right now, £50 million for Eric Dier will be a pretty good deal. Spurs are currently building a new stadium and owing to that, the management has somewhat tied the hands of their manager.

So if United come calling with £50 million then Pochettino might find it really hard to resist the offer. Especially for a player who had lost his place to Victor Wanyama over the course of last season.
How will Eric Dier fit in at Man Utd:
In 2015-16, Pochettino pulled Eric Dier out of defence and played him as a defensive midfielder. And without a shadow of a doubt, the English International had one of his best seasons.
But the following season, Spurs signed Victor Wanyama and Dier lost his position in midfield. But his performance in midfield was truly outstanding and United manager Jose Mourinho wants to exploit this talent.
Mourinho was hoping to sign Nemanja Matic who is a defensive midfielder. But now with the deal turning cold Eric Dier might fit the brief perfectly.
