Theo Walcott has revealed how Manchester United legend and current Everton player Wayne Rooney persuaded him to leave Arsenal and move to Goodison Park.

Theo Walcott yesterday secured a move to Everton for a reported transfer fee of around 20 million pounds – thus ending a 12-year association with Arsenal.

But now the English International has revealed that Wayne Rooney played a huge factor in the decision.

“I had numerous chats with Wayne and that was one massive factor which really tempted me to come to Everton.

“He told me it was a great place to play football and a club that is on the up.

“Those are the reasons I came here.

“This is a club with great history. The fans are brilliant, they are always passionate… and I used to find it very tough playing here.

“You want to be part of something and Wayne feels Everton are really going to improve.”

One of the biggest reasons for Walcott joining the Toffees is the fact that he struggled to get proper game time under Arsene Wenger. But the forward feels that he can change all that at Goodison and hopefully make it to the England squad for the World Cup this summer.
