As the transfer market is in full swing, there are numerous reports of players being linked with many clubs every day. While most of these rumours turn out to be baseless at the end of the window, but some actually might take place.

We take a look at 10 such high profile transfers that are likely to happen during the summer transfer window:

Note: The names of clubs after each player indicates the club that they are currently playing for.

Top 10 transfers that are likely to happen:

1. Alexis Sanchez(Arsenal)

The Chilean has refused to sign a new deal with Arsenal. Meaning that he is more or less likely to move out of the Emirates. The Arsenal playmaker had been heavily linked with Bayern Munich during the start of the transfer window. But those rumours have died down a bit and now Manchester City are the favourites to sign him up.

2. Virgil van Dijk(Southampton)

Van Dijk is the most sort after defender in world football right now. Clubs like Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea all want to sign the player. But Liverpool always looked the favourites to sign the player and the move was just a matter of when and not how. But then Liverpool decided to pull out of the race after the Saints cried foul. Since then Man City are reportedly in the driver’s seat to sign up the Dutchman.

3. Kyle Walker(Tottenham)

Another Manchester City target on our list of Top 10 transfers. Walker had been trying to force his way out of Spurs for quite some time now. And finally, the Spurs management has given the green light to it. This means that Man City can finally open their negotiations with Spurs over the potential move for the English International. But if reports are to believed then, City might have to cough out as much as £40 million for the right-back.

4. James Rodriguez(Real Madrid)

The Colombian signed for Real Madrid at the back of a very successful World Cup in 2014. But since then his career graph has constantly dipped. Meaning that the talented winger has been left to warm the benches. The 25-year-old does not feature anywhere in Zinedine Zidane role right now and he is likely to move out of the Bernabeu this summer. And Manchester United have been heavily linked with the player on quite some occasions now.

5. Wayne Rooney(Man Utd)

Manchester United’s captain fantastic is now just a shadow of his past self. The 31-year-old has lost most of his attacking instincts and pace which he was once famous for. And thus in the past season, Mourinho had used him mostly as a substitute. Numerous reports suggest that the United legend is on his way out of the club. There are a few possible destinations that Rooney could head to. While playing in both China and America remain a possibility, the English international can also return back to his boyhood club Everton to play out his final years in active football.

6. David de Gea(Man Utd)

United are set to receive perhaps their biggest blow in the transfer market in recent years as Real Madrid look adamant to sign the Spaniard this time around after failing to do so a few years back. Zidane wants De Gea to be his long-term keeper at Madrid. And there’s nothing much Jose Mourinho can do to stop it. While United’s Spanish contingent might have a big role to play in persuading De Gea to stay at United but it is highly unlikely that the shot-stopper will stay back at United.

7. Diego Costa(Chelsea)

This is one transfer that is sure to take place after Costa admitted publicly that Conte does not want him at Chelsea in the coming season. Costa initially wanted to go back to his old team Atletico Madrid but now with the transfer ban on Simeone’s club, it looks as if the door to Spain is temporarily shut. But if reports are to believed then Costa might also have a few offers from certain Chinese clubs.

8. Riyad Mahrez(Leicester City)

Riyad Mahrez has already expressed his desire to leave the Foxes after a disappointing last season. And it looks as if he could be heading to Arsenal. Wenger who has been a long time admirer of the Algerian wanted to sign him up in the previous transfer window. But somehow that did not materialise. But it looks as if Wenger is willing to give it one more go.

9. Kylian Mbappe(Monaco)

The 18-year-old Frenchman burst onto the scene last season after a brilliant display of football in the Champions League for Monaco. And the performances had gotten a lot of European clubs interested in him. Both Arsenal and Real Madrid have been reportedly chasing the teenager for his signature. But we doubt if Mbappe would move to a club like Arsenal who cannot offer him top level European football. On the other hand, Real Madrid are said to be offloading a bunch of first team players just to accommodate Kylian Mbappe into the current squad.

10. Marco Verratti(PSG)

Marco Verrati has been heavily linked with a move out of France this summer and Barcelona looks to be his next possible destination.
