It was just last week that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettinho had to defend his club’s inactivity in the transfer market by saying that he has full faith in his current squad. As of this date, Spurs have sold three players in the transfer market but are yet to bring in any new signings.

But now it looks as if Pochettino might well be on his way to signing Ross Barkley from Everton. This after the Toffees boss has admitted that Barkley has refused to sign a new contract with the club and will be moving out in order to seek a new challenge.

When Everton boss Ronald Koeman was asked if Barkley was on his way out, he said, “Yes. 100 per cent. I knew this already from the end of last season.

“We made a really good offer to him to sign a new contract, he declined that contract and told me that he is looking for a new challenge.

“Okay, he is not in Everton’s future anymore. It is his decision. I need to respect that and see what happens.

“What I heard from the board at the moment is that there is no offer on the table for Ross.”

The Everton boss has made it clear that Barkley will leave the club in the summer. And this means that Spurs can now officially launch a bid for the 23-year-old. But Pochettino might just face a bit of rivalry from their London rivals Arsenal as well as Manchester United who have also shown an interest in Barkley in the past.
