Tottenham Hotspur have decided to take some stern action against the supporters who put out a banner that referred to Chelsea player Marcos Alonso’s car accident in 2011.
The banner was put out by some Spurs fans during their away match against Huddersfield Town at the Kirklees Stadium. Spurs won the match comfortably with a scoreline of 4-0. But that Alonso banner was easily the most talked about point of the match.
The banner read, “Marcos Alonso – He murdered a girl.” It also contained a no drinking sign and the picture of a car.

The banner referred to the time when the Chelsea player was involved in a car accident back in 2011. At that time the left-back was playing for Bolton Wanderers and the accident took the life of a 19-year-old girl.
Alonso was arrested after the incident and charged with various offences, including speeding and being over the legal alcohol limit. The player was eventually fined €61,000 and banned from driving for three years and four months.
A spokesperson said, “This banner is clearly in extremely poor taste and we are investigating the matter, if found to be a Spurs fan, they will be dealt with accordingly.”
