Manchester United’s Spanish playmaker Juan Mata has undergone a groin surgery this past week. And as a result of which he has been ruled out of action for an unknown amount of time.

Manchester United confirmed the news on their official website on the 31st of March, 2017. No further details of his absence have been revealed as of yet. But sources claim that he could be out for the rest of the season. Mata joins a long line of United absentees. As a result of the surgery, he will not take part in United’s game against West Brom this weekend. Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Paul Pogba are all unavailable due to various injury problems. Mata’s international teammate Ander Herrera is also unavailable due to suspension. And Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also serving a ban.

Juan Mata joined United in 2014 after then Chelsea boss Mourinho sold him off to the Red Devils. And when Mourinho arrived on United’s shores everyone thought that Mata’s faith was going to be repeated once again. But strangely enough, Mata has gone to become oneof the key men in the Portuguese’s line up. Mata’s absence further weakens United’s line-up for Saturday’s clash. And Mourinho will have to adapt to unusual tactics to pull out all the three points from the game.
