Manchester United have dropped perhaps the biggest hint that captain Wayne Rooney might well be on his way out of the club.

United updated their cover picture on Facebook yesterday and have controversially removed Wayne Rooney from it. The Wayne Rooney transfer saga has been a full-blown debate over the last couple of months. Numerous tabloids have suggested that Rooney is on his way out of the club after failing to get regular starts. Some have suggested that Rooney might join back his childhood club Everton. While others had said that United captain will look to finish his playing career in America.

But none of these reports have been concrete. Mourinho has always said that Rooney is a big part of the club and is needed. Rooney himself has not spoken out of the transfer rumours. But now it looks as if the Englishman is well and truly out of the mix.

The previous cover pic that United had included the likes of Pogba, Herrera, Lingard, and Wayne Rooney. But now the club have updated the picture and have removed their captain from it while the other three players are there. The picture has somewhat gone viral on the social media circuit and everyone is sure that Rooney is on his way out.

This is no doubt this is the biggest hint that anyone has got in the Wayne Rooney transfer debate as it comes from none other than Manchester United.

But if we do not try and think about the Wayne Rooney transfer for a second then there might just be another logical explanation to it. As it stands Rooney has a personal contract with sports giants Nike while United have recently signed a club kit deal with Adidas. This might just be one of the reasons as to why United have removed Rooney’s picture. Even though this might sound a bit absurd but it is a realistic possibility.
