Tottenham Hotspur kick off their Champions League campaign on Wednesday when they host Borussia Dortmund. The last time these two sides met was back in 2015, Spurs were blown away with an aggregate of 5-1. But now the Lily Whites are a very different side – much more balanced and dangerous. So we do not expect such a result. But having said that, Pochettino’s team are in the group of death so every match will be crucial.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will make a whole lot of changes to the first team line up that beat Everton during the weekend.

Here’s Tottenham Hotspur line up against Dortmund:

Goalkeeper:

Hugo Lloris will be the keeper of choice against a Dortmund side that can create havoc in the opponent’s penalty box.

Defence:

Pochettino will stick with a back three as he always does. And these back three will be the same that started the match against Everton during the weekend. Vertonghen, Alderweireld and new signing Davinson Sanchez are all going to reprise their roles in the Spurs’ defensive line up

Vertonghen – Sanchez – Alderweireld

Midfield:

Spurs are going to go with four players in central midfield and the most notable returnee will be Mousa Dembele after the Belgian was rested during the weekend. Both Eric Dier as well as Ben Davies will play the full 90 minutes against Dortmund as Pochettino does not have any back up players in that position. Kieran Trippier will make way for Serge Aurier in midfield.

Davies – Dier – Dembele – Aurier

Attack:

Harry Kane will be the obvious striker for Spurs after the English International bagged his 100th goal for the Lilywhites. Cristien Eriksen will be one half of the attacking midfielder and he will be partnered by Son Heung-Min – who was also rested during the weekend.

Eriksen – Kane – Son
