Arsenal set to table a new deal for Alexis Sanchez: Can Man City match or better it?

Arsene Wenger’s biggest challenge when the previous Premier League ended was to keep Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates. And up until now, the Gooners’ boss has succeeded in doing that. Wenger has claimed on every possible occasion that Sanchez is not for sale and he will be staying for the upcoming season. But as of now, Wenger’s troubles are far from over.

The Chilean’s contract at the club expires next season and he is yet to sign a new deal. The London outfit have tried on several occasion to persuade Sanchez to commit his future to the club but so far, everything has failed. But by the looks of it, Arsenal are not yet ready to give up. According to the latest reports, the Gooners are all set to offer a new contract which will be worth £300,000 per week. At the earlier stages of the transfer window, Arsenal had offered Sanchez a new deal which was worth £225,000 but the Chilean swiftly turned it down because he wanted to join Manchester City.

But now the circumstances are quite different given the fact that Wenger is quite clear with his thoughts. The French coach is willing to let go of him for free next summer rather than sell him off to a direct rival this time around. And we don’t even blame Wenger for doing so, given the fact that this will a very crucial season for the Gooners and the gaffer will be needing all of his best players if he wants to get back into the Champions League.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is quite eager to reunite with his ex-Barcelona player and has made a few bids for him. But Arsenal have rejected every single bid claiming that they are not ready to part ways with the Chilean.

During the earlier days of the transfer window, Manchester City, as well as Bayern Munich, had shown an interest in signing Alexis Sanchez but the German Champions later withdrew from the race claiming that they were not ready to spend absurd amounts of money on a player who was 28 years old.

Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have been trying desperately to make Sanchez pen a new deal and this new and improved contract but just be the final shot in the armour. If Sanchez was to refuse this then surely he wants out – this season of maybe the next. And if he wants to move out immediately then the Blue Half of Manchester will have to be ready with a deal better than Arsenal’s final offer.
