Chelsea’s initial bid of £22 million for Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey has been rejected by the German outfit – as per reports.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Chelsea had sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action during Leverkusen’s 2-0 victory over Stuttgart last week in which the Jamaican U-23 International his set up both the goals. And the Blues seemed to have been very pleased with the winger’s performance.

After the match, Chelsea wasted no time in launching their first bid for the player but this was swiftly turned down as Leverkusen are in no mood to part ways with him.

Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Leon Bailey when he first moved to Europe as a 15-year-old and many at Cobham think that the player has the potential of becoming the ideal replacement to Eden Hazard who has been a transfer target for Real Madrid for quite some time now.

The end of the season might bring in a series of bad news for Chelsea as they might lose two of their first team wingers. While Hazard has been continuously suited by Real Madrid, Manchester United, on the other hand, have made contact with Willian and news has it that Jose Mourinho was the Brazilian at Old Trafford for the next campaign.

In such a scenario, Leon Bailey might just be the ideal replacement for either Hazard or Willian and Leverkusen will be enticed to sell him off if Chelsea increase their offer.
