It is no hidden secret that Jose Mourinho has been a long term admirer of Renato Sanches after having failed to sign up the player last year.
And now it looks as if that desire has rekindled of sorts. Sanches has failed to make any sort of impact at Bayern since his big money move from Benfica. The Portuguese has made only 25 appearances for Bayern Munich in the whole season without making any sort of serious contribution.
And now Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti feels that Sanches no longer fits the brief at the club. Which is why the club have lowered the asking price for the 19-year-old.
According to German newspaper Kicker, Bayern Munich are currently quoting £23 million for the outcast player. Almost £8 million less that what they were previously asking. This sure has to reignite the interests of a lot of clubs. Manchester United in particular.
Mourinho wanted the player last season as a long term partner to Paul Pogba. And that dream still looks well and truly alive. Sanches will perfectly fit into the midfield. And he along with Pogba and Herrera will form a formidable trio.
Renato Sanches was desparate to stick around at Bayern to give it one more shot. But if Mourinho comes calling then the offer might surely be hard to resist.
Bayern are also likely to offload Douglas Costa from their ranks as the Portuguese will make a switch to Juventus. But the Bavarians have made it clear that Robert Lewandowski is not up for sale.
