According to reports, Chelsea are readying a £60 million bid in order to sign up Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton.
Van Dijk is currently one of the most sort after defenders in the Premier League. Up until a few weeks back, Liverpool were the odds out favourite to sign the Dutch International. But then Southampton accused the Reds of using unfair means to sign up the players. And no sooner did the news come out, Liverpool withdrew their interest in the player through an official statement.
And now it looks as if Chelsea are trying to sign the 25-year-old centre back. If reports are to believed then Conte is prepared to pay as much as £60 million for the player.
Van Dijk signed for the Saints back in 2015 from Celtic for a fee of £13 million. And since then he has turned himself into one of the best centre-backs in the whole of England. Even though the Dutchman suffered an ankle injury towards the end of the season but that hasn’t lowered his demands in the transfer market.
If Van Dijk to Chelsea does happen then he will be a perfect addition to the back line along with the likes of Gary Cahill and David Luiz. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is desperate to strengthen his defensive line as his team prepares to take on the Champions League next season.
